The LiberianAmericanSwedish Mining Company (LAMCO) is a defunct Liberian corporation that mined for iron ore in the Nimba range in Liberia during the second half of the twentieth century. Founded in 1955 by American and Swedish investors, the company established the first largescale mining operation in Liberia following the discovery in the 1950s of the Nimba ore .

It was the first of a number of big investments in Liberias iron ore sector, seen as a trendsetter for investors that followed. Under its agreement with the Government of Liberia, negotiated in 2005 (a renegotiated contract was signed in 2006), the worlds largest steel producer ArcelorMittal obtained a 25year concession for iron ore extraction.

During the nearly threedecade administration of William Tubman (1944–1971), the region now called Nimba County was one of three of Liberia''s provinces: Western Province, Eastern Province, and Central Province.
