The vibration demolding of the crystallizer leads to slab thickness deviation in continuous casting processes. Therefore, in this paper, the dynamic model of the hot strip rolling mill vibration resulting from entry thickness deviation is proposed and its dynamic characteristics are studied. First, the dynamic model of vertical vibration in the hot strip rolling mill is established based on ...

Jul 01, 2007· This paper considers some of the control issues in hot rolling mills. Hence to set the context, first we give a brief description of a typical process. The role of a hot strip mill process is to roll the slabs produced in a continuous casting process and produce strips of thickness –20 mm. Fig. 1 shows a typical layout of a hot strip mill.

Rolling processes 51 introduction: Rolling is the process of reducing the thickness or changing the cross section of a long workpiece by compressive forces applied through a set of rolls, as shown in figure (51). Fig. (51) Most rolling is carried out by hot working, called hot rolling, owing to the large amount of deformation required.

Rolling mills are not a standard machine tool, nor are they built for stock. They are designed and builttoorder to specifically accomplish an end product or process. At one point during the industrial revolution in America, the United States led the world in hot and cold rolling, plate mills, slabbing mills and blooming mills.

In a rolling mill attached to a steel plant, the starting point is a cast ingot of steel which is broken down progressively into blooms, billets and slabs. The slabs are further hot rolled into plate, sheet, rod, bar, rails and other structural shapes like angles, channels etc. Conversion of steel into such commercially important sections is ...

Rolling is most often, (particularly in the case of the conversion of an ingot or continuous casting), performed hot. At a rolling mill, blooms and slabs are further rolled down to intermediate parts such as plate, sheet, strip, coil, billets, bars and rods. Many of these products will be the starting material for subsequent manufacturing ...

rolling mills (8 stand roughing rolling mill, 4 stand intermediate rolling mill, and 4 stand finishing rolling mill) was built by MorganSumitomo Heavy Machinery Co. Ltd.. In the 1980s, the aimed quality of products was shifted toward highvalueadded special steel quality, and, to achieve this, in 1986, a threeroll finishing rolling

Hot rolling begins with heating the billet or blooms to a high temperature of around 1100 degrees Celsius. The temperature is of particular importance. Hot rolling and hot extruding drawing involves working above the recrystallization point of the steel. The mill passes the heated material through a variable number of stands.

Bar and wire rod mills Hot Rolling. SMS group ... There is an array of products our stateoftheart mills can manufacture in one mill: angles, squares, flats, channels, rounds, and wire rod. This top versatility also means you can efficiently produce all sizes, materials, and alloys.

rolling mill, dedicated roll cooling systems are required to fulfill the required functions. Examples are suitable roll cooling and lubricationsystems to fully utilize the advantages of HSS rolls in hot strip mills, and selective roll cooling systems as a method to control the flatness of the strip in cold rolling mills.

Jun 18, 2014· Roll pass design is an essential part of long product rolling process, since the long products are rolled between the shaped rolls in the long product rolling mills. Roll pass design generally means the cutting of grooves in the roll body through which steel to be rolled is made to pass sequentially to get the desired contour and size.

Apr 01, 2012· Severe vibrations, known as chatter, occur often in both hot and cold rolling of steel. A recent chatter outbreak at the second stand of hot strip mill in Hastings, Australia, prompted an investigation into the causes of chatter by a literature review, the development and deployment of mathematical models, and a rigorous analysis of plant observations.

Sep 11, 2014· Hot Rolled Steel. Hot rolling is a mill process which involves rolling the steel at a high temperature (typically at a temperature over 1700° F), which is above the steel''s recrystallization temperature. When steel is above the recrystallization temperature, it can be shaped and formed easily, and the steel can be made in much larger sizes.
